PSHE and RSE

Personal and Social Health Education (PSHE) and

Relationship and Sex Education (RSE)

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education is a planned programme of learning opportunities and experiences that deal with the real life issues children and young people face as they grow up. It covers three strands: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World. At the Alvey, we follow a scheme called Talking Points, which follows a question- based curriculum.  Information regarding the curriculum for each year group can be found below.

In 2019, Relationship Education became compulsory in Primary Schools, with a non compulsory element of Sex Education. At William Alvey, we have decided to teach a sex education programme tailored to the age and the physical and emotional maturity of our KS2 pupils. Please see below for information regarding our Sex Education scheme, including Parental Right to Withdraw.

We believe that the best PSHE education is a partnership between parents/carers and schools — and this includes transparency regarding curriculum content and materials. Please do not hesitate to email Mr Farrington if you have any questions about PSHE/RSE.
